6th June 2002 (Thurs)

We've finally picked a winner for our photo competition. Sorry it took us so long... we took ages sorting out all the photos after coming back from our honeymoon, catching up with work, etc... also it was really difficult to choose just 1 table to win, but well... we did it. Click here to find out who won.

23rd May 2002 (Thurs)

Seems like the wedding was just yesterday! We're now back from our honeymoon, photos are mostly back (apart from the ones from Covershots our pro-photographers) and we're slowly putting them up whenever we have time. We're hoping to confirm our winners for the photos competition by next week. If you have the time, please help us judge it by emailing us suggestion at wedding@jennifertoo.com - you can browse the pictures taken by the guest tables here...

We'll put up our honeymoon pictures when they're ready too... we went to Monte Carlo and London!

30th April 2002 (Tues)

The first of the photos from the disposable table cameras are now up! Go see by clicking here...

27th April 2002 (Sat)

Once again Chris and I want to thank all of you for making our wedding so special... we've been getting loads of requests to put up the photos from the disposable cameras, and being asked who won the photography competition... sorry we've been so slow at it - sooo much to do! We'll put the pics up soonest, we promise - as soon as we can get the scanner to work again, it seems very uncooperative these days (maybe overworked!)

19th April 2002 pm (Fri) - Kuching - Wedding Reception

The first reception was at lunchtime, for a smaller and different group from the guests coming to the dinnertime more formal do. Held at a charming chinese restaurant, Chris' mum hosted the lunch, giving a short speech on how we got together and then proposing a toast. For this event, both Chris and I wore our Chinese wedding costumes.

In the evening, we had the main wedding reception at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton, Kuching. A wonderful dinner, followed by a wonderful speech by Chris, and a few poignant words from his brother David, who flew back from the UK for 1 night to attend our wedding. After the toasting and cake spooning, we adjourned next door for dancing and karaoke. Click here for photos.

Carmel wore this daring number which could rival J Lo's oscar dress... see-through chiffon covered only at the essential areas by Swarovski crystals.

Johnny, Han Jin, Connie, Cheryl, Sky & Mei were particularly energetic, staying up and out all night till 6 am next morning!

19th April 2002 am (Fri) - Kuching - Tea Pouring

Woke at 6.30 am to get washed and dressed before the make-up artist arrived. All my bridesmaids were up on time and giving me much moral support telling me how beautiful I was etc. Just before Chris arrived with his entourage of best men, Papa put on my veil, preparing to symbolically give me away to Chris.

When Chris and the guys got to our hotel room, my bridesmaids tried to squeeze one more ang pow out of time (seeing as how they were conned back in KL when the thick ang pow turned out to be two real notes sandwiching a whole pile of blank paper.) Mummy felt sorry for her son-in-law and objected to any more "games" *hehe* so they let him in without much further ado.

Chris took me back to his house to pour tea for his grandma, parents and other elder relatives. Here are the pictures.

14th April 2002 pm (Sun) - The Wedding Banquet, KL

The photos speak for themselves... it was a beautiful beautiful evening and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did...

14th April 2002 am (Sun) - Picking Up of the Bride

Chris and his gang came to pick me up on the morning of the 14th... this custom is one where Chris has to prove his love for me to my bridesmaids and family. Only when they are satisfied would they allow him to get me. I was hidden away upstairs so missed most of the action, but am dying to see the whole thing on video. From all the screaming, the whole thing sounded hilarious! Here are the pictures.

14th April 2002 (Sun) - KL WEDDING

Gosh, no time to update this journal but I'll come back later and rewrite this bit... just want to say that it went amazing, thanks to Mummy and Papa, all our bridal party and friends helping out, and to all our guests this evening. Here are the pictures.

6th April 2002 (Sat)

Hen Night!!! Chris also had his Stag Night the same night. No time to record the lewd details, but for the meantime, here are some pictures!

2nd April 2002 (Tues)

We're now officially married!!! The civil wedding was held at Campbell Complex... where all KL weddings are registered. Chris' parents & uncle flew in for the occassion. Here are the pictures!!!

29th March 2002 (Fri)

Went for another fitting at Janet's. The dresses are gorgeous and Chris looks very regal in his royal blue Chinese outfit. Mummy's pink dress is also gorgeous but they have not started the beading work yet. Here are some pictures.

27th March 2002 (Tues)

Dance class day again. This lesson was fun! We learnt line dancing - two varieties - and then a bit of the marengay. We also learnt to turn in the waltz. Here are some pictures.

26th March 2002 (Mon)

Went to check out the flower posies and stands we'll be using for our wedding, arranged by Angie, one of Chris' god-sister's good friends. Click here to see.

22nd March 2002 (Fri)

Mummy went to Janet's place to have a look at her dresses. Since we're on the topic of clothes and dress designers, here are the photos from the taking-measurements session.

20th March 2002 (Wed)

Chris went for his tux fitting today and looks real suave in it. Very smart indeed! I took pictures, which I'll put up sometime.

We also went to see Angie who's doing our flowers. I'm deciding on the my posie... should I go with the Orchids (Philanopsis - I can't spell that word) or the Princess Di style bouquet which has all sorts of flowers in it? (Each one with a different meaning, all good of course).

18th March 2002 (Mon)

Went with Stanley to meet the Lion Dance troop that will be performing at our wedding. We even got to try on the lions. Chris was a real natural.

See the pictures! Click here.

13th March 2002 (Thurs)

Dance lesson # 2! Today we practised some foxtrot and then learnt the waltz... which is so much easier! Now I'm spending all my free time surfing for waltz music :)

After dancing, we went out for dinner & a lot of sangria at La Bodega. Followed by a saunter into this fashion shop, where Connie and Cheryl picked out this gorgeous sparkly tube top for me with a long white skirt... for me to practise my ballroom dancing with.

Chris bought me the outfit - after ages scouring the 70% off shelves for a cheaper version and not finding anything! He did try to get me to buy this white raincoat skirt instead (about a tenth the price) but it made me look like Mrs Bloggs.

12th March 2002 (Tues)

Chris & I arranged for ballroom dance lessons to learn the Foxtrot, Waltz, Samba and ChaChaCha. Oh and the tango at some point as well. Chris & I will be dancing the first dance together, to be gradually joined by others... so we thought we shouldn't be too two-left-feet-ish on the big day. We made Seeng Hong, Johnny and Connie come along too!

See the pictures! Click here.

11th March 2002 (Mon)

Met with Mandarin Oriental to talk about our sound system for the night, the chinese harpist for the cocktails, the backdrop, the dance floor and lighting, centrepieces, favours for the guests, menu and more. Took 4 hours!!!

We also tried on our wedding bands today - to be ready in two days. Chris has lost some more weight on his fingers since his last ring fitting! We are re-engraving our names and our wedding date, coz the last font was difficult to read and not quite romantic enough.

8th March 2002 (Fri)

Went with Mummy to investigate make up and hair for the big day. Winnie Loo suggested this make up guy called Elvin who's very good she says. I'm booked for a trial run on the 23rd March.

Got our bridal party clothes sorted... tomorrow is the fitting for the flower girls and page boys.

Rosie, my bestest friend from school (Benenden, UK) has confirmed she is coming! Am so excited! Here she is on the Attendants page.

7th March 2002 (Thurs)

Joined this "Top 50 Wedding Websites" competition online. Thought it'd be fun... seeing as we put so much effort into building this site! So VOTE FOR US by clicking here!

6th March 2002 (Wed)

Went to see Covershots one more time (our 4th trip!) - Pam must be sick of seeing us by now... but this time we signed up! Their pictures are very good, presentation lovely, and Pam's great to work with. She's in sync with what we want (we think!). We've booked full day photography for the Picking up of the Bride and the the Wedding Banquet at Mandarin, plus full day video-ing as well.

We get to choose the songs to go on the video too. Any suggestions, please email us at wedding@jennifertoo.com !

Another thing that happened today: we ran out of invite cards, so we're waiting for the reprints to come in before we can continue sending. We've more or less sent out invites to the whole guest list... just waiting for a few more addresses.

Ordered the many many double happiness lanterns for the ballroom. Janice also managed to help us source the water bowls for our table centre pieces.

5th March 2002 (Tues)

Mae Ching got her sister to invite us over to see her sister's wedding album - done by Picture This and That - the photos were really good. But then again the bride was stunning. So hard to decide on a photographer. We'd have them all if we could, but we want to save something for our honeymoon!

2nd March 2002 (Sat)

Chris gets fitted out for his suit today. He's thinking tails or tuxedo. Depends on what the body builders call the V-shape?

Went to the hairdressers for a hair dye, treatment and hair trim. Horror of horrors, my hair is now this metallic copper color. Chris kinda likes it, but nobody else has commented. Mummy says she likes it less and less the more she looks at it. Hmmmph. Now I have to live with gross hair for a week - so as not to dry out my hair - before re-dyeing it a more attractive shade of brown.

Met up with Nerine & Amy, and turns out Amy & Kerr Wei used Covershots - the original wedding photographers we checked out. We went back to Amy's to drool over her wedding albums and they were soooo lovely ... and the video was fantastic! We're going to have to rethink Covershots and give them a shot.

1st March 2002 (Fri)

This evening we spent checking out event photographers for the KL wedding... met with Sylvia and Gillian from "Picture This and That" - recommended strongly by Sharon, Shalini and Mae Ching - and I thought they were pretty good. They specialize in B & W photography, but I thought their color shots were nicer. Chris being the photographer and artist in the family preferred the B & W shots. We might go for the color option with just the key moments captured in B & W.

One thing we noticed from the photos were the lights... when there are plenty of candles and lights the photos look gorgeous, especially the color ones. So I think we'll step up the lights.

22nd Feb 2002 (Fri)

Food tasting to ensure guests are not poisoned / don't leave hungry. Also viewing table deco and dressing... the theme is red and gold.

21st Feb 2002 (Thurs)

Today we went to the registrar of marriage to set a date for our civil wedding. We got April 2nd, so we're pretty lucky we went today, if not, maybe by the time our official wedding dinners come around, we still wouldn't be married! (Btw, our non-malaysian friends, the norm here in Malaysia is to register the marriage before the dinner / banquet / celebration, which is considered the date to use for the anniversary).

We took new photos of ourselves for the wedding registration form... and when the registrar saw it, he said to me "You better be careful with this guy ah, he look like Japanese mafia"... here's the photo:

Our mugshots will be posted up on the registry's board for a month, so anyone who wants to protest against the marriage can do so between now and the 2nd, or forever hold his/her peace. Seeng Hong, that meaning protest with valid reason, not protest for reason of practical joke by friends.

18th Feb 2002 (Mon)

Met with the Mandarin Oriental, where our KL wedding reception will be held, to discuss the fine details. Mummy came along - the wedding bug has finally hit her and she's all go with ideas. She was at first concerned we didn't have one of those Jennifer Lopez type wedding planners, but after meeting with the v. helpful hotel staff, her mind is at peace. They say they too are "wedding planners". Will not reveal the fine points of the wedding here, coz you'll all have to wait till our big day to find out! hehehe.

14th Feb 2002 (Thurs)

Had a meeting with Chris' folks to discuss Kuching reception... think this one will end up being a very happy and drunken affair. Dinner to be followed by heavy drinking and karaoke. Seeng Hong and Jason are giving the bestman's speech together and have already thought up horrible ways to embarass us... eeks.
